back to couponing!

Sorry I haven't written in a long time. As all of you know, we had that massive tornado come thru the south. It was about 30seconds from demolishing my house. I am one of the lucky ones that only had minor home damage. The homes behind my neighbourhood are gone as well as all the trees. It's amazing that a tornado can do that much damage. Our hearts go out to all those that lost lives and homes. We had no power for five days but we made it thru. Luckily we were able to eat a lot of the food I had bought couponing! I am so glad I started couponing. It has saved my family at least 50% a month on groceries if not more. I've done some shopping since my last post so illl post more later with what I bought and how much I saved.

first shopping trips!

I was able to hit the stores yesterday and today. I went with my husband yesterday and my mom today. Yesterday we started out going to walgreens. I had a coupon to get body wash for .79 and some free floss and toothpaste. When I say free that includes using my coupons and some register rewards they give for your next purchase. They were out of women's bodywash but brad was able to get 2 men's bodywash. We got 1 free floss, 4 free things of toothpaste, five 12pks of coke product, .99 liquid hand soap, an airwick odor sensing freshioner for $3.49, and 6 mars candy for .39 ea. We paid a little over $25! We saved $50! I think that was a pretty good deal for our first try :) Next we went to Publix. We bought (2) 4pk of yoplait yogurt FREE, .50 cent parkay margarine, (2) steamfresh veggies for .40cents each, (2) kraft shredded cheese for .66 cents each, (2) FREE cans pineapple, (2) barilla pasta for .60cents each, (2) Duncan hines brownie mix for .60 cents, (2) cheerios $1.75ea, and finally a gallon of milk for $2.39. Paid $11.98! Saved $28.11! In total for the day, we spent $37.96 and saved $76.95! That's pretty awesome for all the things we got.

Today my mom wanted to go to the store with me because I found her coupons that would make her Greek yogurt .40 cents each! So I headed to Publix and Walgreens once again lol. Today my walgreens trip wasn't as great but still saved money. I got 3 free packs of scotch tape! Bought a pack of huggies diapers and 2 refill wet wipes. I had a coupon for $3 off and one for $2 off, well the $2 off didn't work. But I did get a $5 register reward good towards my next purchase. So after the R.R. and $3 off I spent $15 for the diapers and wipes. I bought some toothbrushes, they were suppose to be free after coupons. Well, they had the wrong item in the spot of the toothbrushes I needed. I didn't notice until I looked at my receipt that a paid $10 for 4! Holy cow! I will be taking those back tomorrow. Here's a warning for you to watch what is ringing up! I learned my lesson.
We then went to Publix. My mom got her Greek yogurt and some shredded cheese. I got two more 4pks of yoplait yogurt and two packs of shredded cheese, also two more steamed Veggie, and eight packs of pasta(.60ea)! I also got six different packs of Pillsbury crescent rolls etc and two packs sliced cheese. Paid $20, saved $30!
My shopping trips weren't perfect and I wish I saved more lol but I think I did pretty darn good. I'll try again next week!

first week of coupon clipping!

Hello readers,
A few weeks ago I saw a new show on TLC. Its called Extreme Couponing! I was so amazed by the people on this show. They could go to the grocery store and get $600 worth of groceries for $8! One guy even got $5700 worth of food for under $250! Awesome, right!? So that started me thinking. I don't really need to get $5700 or even $600 worth of groceries in a month. But it would be nice to save at least 50% on our monthly grocery bill. We have tried other tricks to save money on groceries; buy generic, buy at Walmart, and just to cut items out of our spending. I didn't even know you could save that much money with coupons. So after searching the internet for hours lol I found a website run by one of the ladies on the tlc show. They call her the Krazy Coupon Lady! Check her website out at WWW.thekrazycouponlady.com. It is full of great stuff to help you get started. She also wrote a book. I just got it in the mail so when I finish reading it ill let you know how it is. So far it is awesome! On her website she matches coupons with sales going on at each store so you can get the best deal. So far this week, I am going to get 16 free yoplait yogurts, .50 canned pineapple, .30 Duncan hines brownie mix, .20 bag mashed potatoes, .13 sour cream, .66 kraft shredded cheese, and free Campbells soup! I am going to buy all this at publix on Friday.

In order to start couponing, I have for getting at least 2 Sunday papers to clip coupons from. Then I do some research online to find good deals. You can also print a lot of good coupons. The down side to that is usually you can only print two of each coupon. I think I'm off to a good start. My next goal will be to get a coupon binder started and organize my coupons! I guess ill go for now. Thanks for reading!
